History
of the Graham, NC, Rotary Club

   The Graham Rotary Club was organized on February 17, 1940. It was admitted into Rotary International and received its charter on March 4, 1940, being sponsored by the Reidsville Rotary Club, North Carolina, Charter No. 5191

    The Graham Rotary Club is meeting through 2008 at the fellowship hall of the Graham Friends Church while the Graham Civic Center (its typical meeting place) is renovated. The club meets on each Thursday at Noon. Meetings will once again be held at the Civic Center (503 McGee Street, Graham) when construction is completed. The Graham Rotary Club is the founder of the Graham Civic Center. It was built in 1954 on land donated by Dr. Joseph L. Johnson on March 4, 1954. The architect was R.R. Markley, Inc. and the builder was Paul Thompson.
